Training Implementation: Building Capacity for Inclusive STEM Education
As a vital part of our national research project, capacity-building through structured training was designed to ensure that the technological innovations—such as tactile STEM materials, the Equation Format Converter (EFC), 3D models, and the STEM Kit—are effectively utilized across educational levels. The trainings were divided into three key cohorts:
Cohort 3: Students (Blind and Visually Impaired)
This cohort directly engaged BVI students in practical sessions to:
- Familiarize them with the use of tactile diagrams, 3D models, and EFC.
- Build confidence in independently navigating mathematical equations and scientific concepts.
- Encourage feedback for further development of the tools and resources.
- Promote self-advocacy in requesting accessible materials during assessments like JAMB, WAEC, and NECO.
Impact: BVI students across selected institutions received kits, training, and personalized support, with several already integrating these tools into exam preparations.
